Beijing Zoo was originally named "Ten Thousand Animal Garden", which was established in 1908. During the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911), plants were cultivated and animals were raised here. After the freedom of China, it was reconstructed and known as the West Suburb Park.

Today, Beijing Zoo mainly includes wild and rare animals growing in China, such as the panda and the golden monkey. It also shows rare animals from around the world, such as the white bear from the North Pole, kangaroos from Australia and zebras from Africa.

The buildings in the zoo cover an area of more than 50,000 square meters. Visitors will discover the animals walking past the monkey hill, the panda hall, the lion and tiger hill, the elephant hall, the beast hall and many other areas. There are more than 30 large halls showing more than 600 types of animal species and more than 7,000 populations of animals.
