The Beijing is attraction for the tourist mainly for its food. Located within Beihai Park, Fang Shan is a great place to be in.
Careful selection of ingredients, elaborate preparation and exquisite decoration are key components of imperial cuisine. The food is very nourishing and the taste tends to be relatively light.
Establish in the park in1925, it was the first imperial style restaurant in Beijing. The name “fang shan" actually means food following the style used for the imperial family.
The menu of this famous restaurant gives you an idea of the sheer variety of dishes available to Chinese emperors and empresses. The menu is in Chinese and English.
It includes six banquets, each comprising up to 36 dishes. The restaurant, though, has designed different set dishes at different price levels ranging from 150 to 500 yuan (US- 60) per person. The menu lists under each set meal up to 14 helpings of food consisting of appetizer, soup, meat and vegetable dishes, cakes and fruit.
Hours: lunch is served from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm, dinner 5:30 pm.
