Britain’s Phillips Idowu has won gold in the triple jump at the World Championships . Idowu managed to perform a personal best jump of 17.73 metres to beat rival Nelson Evora, who took silver with a 17.55 metre jump. Cuba’s Alexis Copello took bronze with a jump of 17.36 metres. The victory was made all the sweeter for Idowu after Evora won gold for Portugal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics , forcing the Britain to settle for silver. Idowu’s success has given Britain their first male world
